A Day at Torrance Beach Ramp

Minding my own business, I took a stroll down to the Torrance beach Ramp. Memories zapping through my head about the days gone by. Many names and faces inside this head that I wish I could connect with.

Remember the years when we would just sit on the ramp and watch the sights to be seen that no one else even imagined were there? Old Friend Dick E. would show up in his VW bus, and you always knew that an exploratory event was happening within you and not without you.

The ramp was a gathering point for us...the days before cell phones, when you actually had to see your friend if you wanted to talk. Home phones usually had nosy parents around.

Remember one day Mr. C. came down looking for one of the older guys who had more wisdom. He was instructed to "Have Faith and all would work out." Don't think Mr. C. even rememebers that day, but the suggestion must have helped becuase he is still with us.

Some people that used the ramp with us are no longer in this world. Many people I could name who were ramp rats will never be able to go see the ramp ever again. They are even building another Lookout Point from the parking lot, but nothing can take away the magic that belongs to the Ramp.

For those that remember the ramp, there is nothing more that needs to be said....for those who didn't experience it there is still time to go sit and absorb the vibrations of times gone by. For those that have a story to share, please let use know your feelings and your thoughts about the ramp. And, if you are just going to be a jerk and write stupid message about the ramp, then you don't have "the ramp within" so you might as well not even post. Go rant someplace else.

Sign of the Times
